Yes. Assessment is practical and ongoing throughout the day.
Learners demonstrate key skills such as CPR, choking response, and managing emergency situations, with full trainer support to build confidence before certification is awarded.
This course is only available for organisations and employer group bookings, not individual enrolments.
It means the training is designed to be delivered to teams in the workplace, with groups of up to 12 delegates per session. This ensures the training is practical, consistent, and tailored to staff working within childcare and education settings.
If you are an individual looking for training, we offer other courses within our Skill Builders range that are open to individual learners as well as employers. You can view these to find the most suitable option for your needs.
The EPFA course supports EYFS and Ofsted expectations for emergency first aid provision, particularly in childcare settings.
However, it is important to note that it covers emergency first aid only. Full compliance for Ofsted-registered childcare roles requiring full paediatric first aid is covered by the 2-day Paediatric First Aid course.
This course is delivered for employer and group bookings only and can accommodate up to 12 delegates per session to ensure learners receive sufficient practical instruction and support.
For larger teams, additional trainers or multiple training sessions can be arranged, allowing organisations to train all relevant staff while maintaining a high-quality learning experience.
Upon successful completion, learners receive a certificate that is valid for 3 years.
Many organisations choose to refresh training earlier to maintain confidence and ensure staff remain fully prepared for emergencies.
The main difference between these two qualifications is the duration, depth of training, and the level of responsibility they are designed for within childcare settings.
