You will cover key areas including the roles and responsibilities of a teacher or trainer, how to create inclusive learning environments, and how to use effective assessment methods to support learner progress. You will also develop practical teaching skills such as planning engaging sessions, delivering training, and evaluating your own teaching practice through reflection and feedback.
The course also includes preparation for a short micro-teach session, helping you apply what you have learned in a real teaching or training context.
The course is delivered fully online over eight weeks, combining independent study, guided support, and live learning sessions. Learners complete weekly assignments, attend a live masterclass, and receive one-to-one tutor support, allowing them to study flexibly around work and personal commitments.
Assessment is based on a combination of weekly written assignments and a short observed teaching session. Learners also complete a micro-teach activity where they plan and deliver a short training session, demonstrating their ability to apply inclusive teaching and assessment methods.

The AET also supports progression into roles such as trainer, teaching assistant, workplace mentor, or learning and development coordinator across education, childcare, and vocational settings.
