You’re supported every step of the way

Starting an apprenticeship is an exciting opportunity to build new skills, develop your confidence and take the next step in your career.

At The Childcare Company, we know that every learner’s journey is different. That’s why we provide personalised guidance, practical support and resources to help you succeed throughout your apprenticeship.

Your apprenticeship is designed to help you develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for your role, while also supporting your personal and professional growth.

In this guide, we’ll explain the different types of support available to you and how our team will help you make the most of your learning experience.

The support available throughout your apprenticeship

As a learner with The Childcare Company, you’ll have access to a range of support designed to help you achieve your goals.

Development Coach support

Your Development Coach will be there to guide you throughout your apprenticeship journey. They will help you:

• Review your progress and celebrate your achievements
• Set goals and identify areas for development
• Provide feedback and guidance
• Discuss any challenges or questions you may have
• Prepare you for your End-Point Assessment (EPA), where applicable

Your Development Coach is your main point of contact for your learning and will support you throughout your programme.

Workplace support

Your workplace setting plays an important role in your apprenticeship. Your employer, manager and colleagues will support you by helping you apply your learning in practice and develop confidence in your role.

Working alongside experienced professionals allows you to put your knowledge, skills and behaviours into action every day.

Learning resources

You’ll have access to a range of learning resources, activities and materials to support your development throughout your apprenticeship.

These resources are designed to help you build your knowledge, reflect on your practice and continue developing your skills.

Additional learning support

Everyone learns differently, and we’re committed to ensuring you have the support you need to succeed.

Additional support is available for areas such as:

• Functional Skills English and Maths (where required)
• Additional learning needs
• Developing confidence with your learning
• Accessing resources in a way that works best for you

Safeguarding and wellbeing support

Your wellbeing matters. If you have concerns about your safety, wellbeing or personal circumstances, support is available.

You can speak with your Development Coach, access safeguarding support or explore additional wellbeing resources available through your learner support channels.

Monitoring your progress

Throughout your apprenticeship, your progress will be regularly reviewed to make sure you are receiving the right support and staying on track.

This includes:

• Regular progress reviews with your Development Coach
• Feedback on your learning, performance and workplace evidence
• Tracking your progress against your apprenticeship standard
• Support with preparing for your End-Point Assessment or final qualification

These reviews are an opportunity to discuss your achievements, ask questions and identify any additional support you may need.

It’s always okay to ask for help

Everyone needs support at different points during their apprenticeship. Asking for help is an important part of your development and shows self-awareness.

You should speak with your Development Coach or employer if you:

• Feel overwhelmed or need additional support
• Are finding it difficult to balance your apprenticeship responsibilities
• Are unsure about a topic, activity or workplace task
• Have concerns about your wellbeing or experience within your workplace setting

The earlier you ask for support, the sooner the right help can be put in place.

Your employer may also have wellbeing resources, employee support services or additional guidance available to help you.

Making the most of your Association of Apprentices membership

As part of your apprenticeship with The Childcare Company, you’ll receive free membership with the Association of Apprentices (AoA).

Your membership gives you access to additional learning opportunities, resources and a community of apprentices from across the UK.

AoA Connect – Connect with other apprentices

AoA Connect is a dedicated online community where you can:

• Meet and connect with apprentices from different industries
• Join groups based on your interests and goals
• Take part in discussions, polls and virtual events
• Build your professional network

It’s a great way to share experiences, gain inspiration and connect with others who are also completing an apprenticeship.

AoA Learn – Develop your skills

AoA Learn provides access to additional learning resources designed to support your personal and professional development.

You can access:

• Interactive learning resources
• Videos and development tools
• CV support and career guidance
• Resources to help you build confidence and workplace skills

Some AoA learning activities may also contribute towards your off-the-job training hours, helping you continue developing skills beyond your core programme.
