Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner: Programme Overview

The Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner qualification is specifically designed to develop childcare team leaders and managers into prolific senior staff who will set the standard for childcare excellence across the sector.

Learners on this apprenticeship will be those already working as Room Leaders, Early Years Leads, Deputy Managers or Managers.

The programme develops the practitioner’s ability to reflect and build on practice, through on-going professional enquiry, and action led research. Graduates of this course will also learn Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) implementation, supporting team development in childcare.

Completing the course earns learners a full and relevant Level 5 qualification - once the End-Point Assessment (EPA) is passed.

This programme is specifically designed to help you leverage your experience in Early Years childcare leadership to move into a more senior Early Years management role with ease. You’ll build upon the skills and knowledge you’ve acquired throughout your career, developing a deeper understanding of what it takes to teach, lead, and research ways you can stay ahead of trends as well as competitors.

By the end of the course, learners will be fully equipped with everything needed to lead a childcare business to success, while ensuring company compliance with various policies, retaining talent, safeguarding everyone’s wellbeing, and providing assurance for parents and families.

Upon completion, you’ll be officially awarded a full and relevant Level 5 qualification once a passing grade has been achieved at the End-Point Assessment.

Early Years childcare is an extremely rewarding vocation. When caring for very young children, it is imperative that you possess the correct knowledge and skills to ensure a child’s comfort and safety, as well as peace of mind for parents and family that their children are in capable hands.

This programme is specifically designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours you need to progress in your career, and thrive while working in a childcare environment.

The Level 5 apprenticeship qualification is the academic equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.

As a learner, nothing at all. As an employer, course costs will be covered by levy funding. If your business is not a levy payer, 95% of course costs will be covered by government funding.

The remaining 5% of the £8,000 fee works out at just £400. For the value this will add to your CV and your team at work, the return on your employer’s small investment is a cost-effective way for you to help boost your employer’s business as a whole.

While a Level 5 higher national diploma is a higher-level course, achieving any qualification takes work and dedication. That said, whether you are a learner or a business, The Childcare Company will provide all the resources and support you could ever need. We’ll work alongside you to ensure your success.

The Level 5 Early Years Lead Practitioner apprenticeship runs for a total of 24 months. However, you do have the opportunity to finish earlier, depending on your preferred pace of working.

The delivery of the course is a blend of online and in-person learning.
